About Us

About Craig Allan Armstrong:

I come from a building family.  My father was a general contractor and built spec homes in the North Seattle area.  As a young boy, I spent many hours riding in my father's truck, visiting job sites, talking with subcontractors, and working around construction sites.  My dad put me to work, along with my sister, sweeping up the job sites and keeping them tidy.  At 16, during my sophomore summer, I started my first full-time job as a framing carpenter for Andy Myers.  Andy, a former machinist, was fastidious and taught me the art of precision carpentry and how important it was.  A great first job and boss, cemented my love of building.  After college, I decided building was for me and worked full time as a framing carpenter.

I continued framing houses, married in 1987 (still married to my bride), then joined the Local Carpenters Union 1797 in 1988.  Union life was not for me, but gave me some varied experience and the desire to start my own company.  In 1990, I became a licensed General Contractor under the name Allan Armstrong Construction. The first few years were tough, but fun.  We survived by extraordinarily hard work!  We stayed busy doing nearly any job that came our way and worked on houses of all sorts -- the oldest being a 2nd story addition built in 1896.  As a general contractor, I built my first home in 1993 and the second in 1994.

After experiencing the satisfaction of building a home from the ground up, I convinced my wife to sell our home in Kirkland.  We moved to Sequim, where we could afford a nice building lot, build spec houses, and turn a modest profit.  After seventeen years in Sequim, 66 houses, 2 apartment buildings, an office building and duplex, the Dungeness River Audubon Museum, the Clallam County Maintenance Facility @ Salt Creek, and dozens of remodels (large & small), we are still here, loving it, and working hard.

I became a Washington State Licensed Home Inspector (#895) due in part to the slow economic environment for new construction and, more importantly, the love of construction,  and the ability to educate and help people. Since completing the Home Inspection education and Structural Pest Inspection Education and passing both State required test and the testing for certification through InterNACHII have completed over 600 inspection.

Let me assist you in making an educated real decision on the purchase  (or sale) of your next home.  Please allow me to become your inspector for life.
